Peace

Oh, hi Resentment, it's you again.  You've been around a lot lately.  In fact, I think you haven’t REALLY even left for awhile, just been silently waiting in the background.  Sometimes it seems, that you are just lurking about looking for your chance to show yourself.  You've become tricky, sometimes you are even there hiding, right behind Praise. You have been showing up more frequently, especially when your friend, Stress, shows up, you two have been together a lot lately.  And, more and more, Anger seems to be tagging along with the two of you.

Equanimity just stares at resentment.  Equanimity would like to help, but doesn't have the ability to keep Defensive at bay, besides, it is not in Equanimity's nature to try and stop Defensive.  Equanimity must leave.  Defensive comes out ready to combat resentment, Defensive can't help himself.  Defensive quickly realizes that resentment has gotten stronger and this is not going to be easy.  Defensive no longer has "Training" to ward off resentment, and "the kids" no longer make a good shield for defensive.  Resentment is adamant. 

Defensive has run out of excuses.  Defensive starts  to wonder if Resentment has a right to be here.  Perhaps resentment's place here is well-deserved.  Defensive slowly turns into Resolve.  Resolve decides to do whatever it takes to appease Resentment.  Resolve starts making plans.  Resolve has all of the answers.  But without Resolve knowing it, Fear begins to creep in.  Fear asks Resolve where Peace is going to fit into all of these plans.  Fear calls on his buddy Mistrust.  Fear knows how lonely it can be without Peace, Fear does not want to go back to living like that.  Fear and Mistrust start arguing with Resolve. Resolve begins to break down.

Quiet! Quiet clears the path for Silence.  Silence stays for awhile.

Peace enters, slowly at first...then gradually, moving more quickly, pervades the entire space.  Peace brings Love and Warmth along, because they always travel with Peace.  Peace says that everything is going to be okay, "I am right here."  Fear can't hold back today because mistrust is right there with him.  Fear says, "but you weren't always here, and what if we lose you again?" 

Peace calmly responds, "I have always been here, and will always be here."

Fear says, "For a long time we were missing you."  Mistrust says, "What if you leave again."

Peace responds, "I was here, you just didn't know how to reach me, and where to find me, but now you do."

"Go ahead and do what you need to do, I will be right here."

Fear and Mistrust become Calm and Serene.  Peace has that effect on things.  Peace stays.
